There must be lights burning brighter somewhere
Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue
If I can dream of a better land
Where all my brothers walk hand in hand
Tell me why, oh why, oh why can't my dream come true
There must be peace and understanding sometime
Strong winds of promise that will blow away
All the doubt and fear
If I can dream of a warmer sun
Where hope keeps shining on everyone
Tell me why, oh why, oh why won't that sun appear
Were lost in a cloud
With too much rain
Were trapped in a world
That's troubled with pain
But as long as a man
Has the strength to dream
He can redeem his soul and fly
Deep in my heart there's a trembling question
Still I am sure that the answer gonna come somehow
Out there in the dark, theres a beckoning candle
And while I can think, while I can walk
While I can stand, while I can talk
While I can dream, please let my dream
Come true, right now
Let it come true right now
Oh yeah

Beatles - Eleanor Rigby
Album: Revolver
Track nr: 2
Duration: 2:07
Year: 1966
Genre: Rock
Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from ?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong ?
Father McKenzie writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear
No one comes near.
Look at him working. Darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there
What does he care?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
Eleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name
Nobody came
Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was saved
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?

"And Now For Something Completely Different"
When I started this I thought I would pick one song from each artist... But who was I kidding, It would be impossible. Some songs that should be here aren't, and that's because it sometimes feels like I'm committing a crime picking one song over another, so I am doing my best in this initial stage of this very long term project and idea to choose the best I can without repeating the artist, and although all the songs I would like to share with everyone I will never be able to compile them all, I would like to suggest that if you indeed like any of these songs, spend some time listening to some of their other work. It will be worth every second of your time.
As promised on this post's title....
Here we have it, a Monty Python sketch, (yes also hard to choose) but chosen because in the end of it we have the "Lumberjack Song"
Enjoy.

Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven
Album: Led Zeppelin IV
Track nr: 4
Duration: 7:55
Year: 1971
Genre: Rock
There's a lady who's sure
All that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
When she gets there she knows
If the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
There's a sign on the wall
But she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings
In a tree by the brook
There's a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven
It makes me wonder
There's a feeling I get
When I look to the west
and my spirit is crying for leaving
In my thoughts I have seen
Rings of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who stand looking
And it makes me wonder
And it's whispered that soon
If we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn
For those who stand long
And the forest will echo with laughter
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow
Don't be alarmed now
It's just a spring clean for the May queen
Yes there are two paths you can go by
But in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on
And it makes me wonder
Your head is humming and it won't go
In case you don't know
The piper's calling you to join him
Dear lady can you hear the wind blow
And did you know
Your stairway lies on the whisperin' wind
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our souls
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll
And she's buying a stairway to heaven...

Jethro Tull - Aqualung
Album: Aqualung
Track nr: 1
Duration: 6:31
Year: 1971
Genre: Progressive Rock
LIVE PERFORMANCE
Sitting on a park bench
eyeing little girls with bad intent.
Snot running down his nose
greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes.
Drying in the cold sun
Watching as the frilly panties run.
Feeling like a dead duck
spitting out pieces of his broken luck.
the army's up the rode
salvation à la mode and
a cup of tea.
Aqualung my friend
don't start away uneasy
you poor old sod, you see, it's only me.
Do you still remember
December's foggy freeze
when the ice that
clings on to your beard is
screaming agony.
And you snatch your rattling last breaths
with deep-sea-diver sounds,
and the flowers bloom like
madness in the spring.

an old man wandering lonely.
Taking time
the only way he knows.
Leg hurting bad,
as he bends to pick a dog-end
he goes down to the bog
and warms his feet.

Pulp - Common People
Album: Different Class
Track nr: 3
Duration: 5:50
Year: 1995
Genre: Indie
She came from Greece she had a thirst for knowledge
She studied sculpture at St Martin's college
That's where I....
Caught her eye
She told me that her Dad was loaded
I said "In that case I'll have rum and coca-cola."
She said "Fine,".....
And then in thirty seconds time she said
"I want to live like common people
I want to do whatever common people do
I want to sleep with common people
I want to sleep with common people like you."
Oh what else could I do?
I said "I'll see what I can do."
I took her to a supermarket
I don't know why, but I had to start it somewhere
So it started .... there
I said "Pretend you've got no money."
But she just laughed an said "Oh you're so funny."
I said "Yeah?
Well I can't see anyone else smiling in here
Are you sure you want to live like common people
You want to see whatever common people see
You want to sleep with common people
You want to sleep with common people like me?"
But she didn't ... understand
She just smiled and held my hand
Rent a flat above a shop
Cut your hair and get a job
Smoke some fags and play some pool
Pretend you never went to school
But still you'll never get it right
`cos when you're laid in bed at night
Watching roaches climb the wall
If you called your dad he could stop it all yeah
You'll never live like common people
You'll never do what ever common people do
You'll never fail like common people
You'll never watch your life slide out of view
And then dance, and drink, and screw
Because there's nothing else to do
Sing along with the common people
Sing along and it might just get you through
Laugh along with the common people
Laugh along even though they're laughing at you
And the stupid things that you do
Because you think that poor is cool.
Like a dog lying in a corner
They will bite you and never warn you
Look out.
They'll tear your insides out
`cos everybody hates a tourist
Especially one who thinks it's all such a laugh
Yeah and the chip stain and grease will come out in the bath
You will never understand
How it feels to live your life
With no meaning or control
And with nowhere left to go
You are amazed that they exist
And they burn so bright whilst you can only wonder why.

Everlast - What's It Like
Album: Whitey Ford Sings The Blues
Track nr: 4
Duration: 5:03
Year: 1998
Genre: Hip-Hop / Rock/Blues
VideoClip
We've all seen a man at the liquor store beggin' for your change
The hair on his face is dirty, dread-locked, and full of mange
He asks a man for what he could spare, with shame in his eyes
Get a job you fucking slob, is all he replies
God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in his shoes
cause then you really might know what its like to sing the blues
Then you really might know what its like...
Then you really might know what its like...
Then you really might know what its like...
Then you really might know what its like...
Mary got pregnant from a kid named tom that said he was in love
He said, don't worry about a thing, baby doll
I'm the man you've been dreaming of.
But 3 months later he say he wont date her or return her calls
And she swear, God damn, if I find that man I'm cuttin' off his balls.
And then she heads for the clinic and
She gets some static walking through the door
They call her a killer, and they call her a sinner
And they call her a whore
God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in her shoes
cause then you really might know what its like to have to choose
Ive seen a rich man beg
Ive seen a good man sin
Ive seen a tough man cry
Ive seen a loser win
And a sad man grin
I heard an honest man lie
Ive seen the good side of bad
And the downside of up
And everything between
I licked the silver spoon
Drank from the golden cup
And smoked the finest green
I stroked the fattest dimes at least a couple of times
Before I broke their heart
You know where it ends, yo, it usually depends on where you start
I knew this kid named max
He used to get fat stacks out on the corner with drugs
He liked to hang out late
He liked to get shit-faced and keep the pace with thugs
Until late one night there was a big gun fight and max lost his head
He pulled out his chrome .45, talked some shit, and wound up dead
Now his wife and his kids are caught in the midst of all of this pain
You know it crumbles that way
At least thats what they say when you play the game
God forbid you ever had to wake up to hear the news
cause then you really might know what its like to have to lose
Then you really might know what its like...
Then you really might know what its like...
Then you really might know what its like...to have to lose

Hope there's someone
Who'll take care of me
When I die, will I go
Hope there's someone
Who'll set my heart free
Nice to hold when I'm tired
There's a ghost on the horizon
When I go to bed
How can I fall asleep at night
How will I rest my head
Oh I'm scared of the middle place
Between light and nowhere
I don't want to be the one
Left in there, left in there
There's a man on the horizon
Wish that I'd go to bed
If I fall to his feet tonight
Will allow rest my head
So here's hoping I will not drown
Or paralyze in light
And godsend I don't want to go
To the seal's watershed
Hope there's someone
Who'll take care of me
When I die, Will I go
Hope there's someone
Who'll set my heart free
Nice to hold when I'm tired
Quotes: Laurie Anderson- "When he sings it is the most exquisite thing you will ever hear in your life."
Diamanda Galas- "Every emotion in the planet is in that gorgeous voice."

Duration: 4:15
Year: 1995
Genre: Pop / Folk / Country
Song
Shes an ugly girl, does it make you want to kill her?
Shes an ugly girl, do you want to kick in her face?
Shes an ugly girl, she doesnt pose a threat
Shes an ugly girl, does that make you feel safe?
Ugly girl, ugly girl, do you hate her cause shes pieces of you?
Shes a pretty girl, does she make you think nasty thoughts?
Shes a pretty girl, do you want to tie her down?
Shes a pretty girl, do you call her a bitch?
Shes a pretty girl, did she sleep with your whole town?
Pretty girl, pretty girl, do you hate her cause shes pieces of you?
You say hes a faggot, does it make you want to hurt him?
You say hes a faggot, do you want to kick in his brain?
You say hes a faggot, does he make you sick to your stomach?
You say hes a faggot, are you afraid youre just the same?
Faggot, faggot, do you hate him cause hes pieces of you?
You say hes a jew, does it mean that hes tight?
You say hes a jew, do you want to hurt his kids tonight?
You say hes a jew, hell never wear that funny hat again
You say hes a jew as though being born were a sin
Oh jew, oh jew, do you hate him cause hes pieces of you?
Do you hate him cause hes pieces of you?
